This was our go-to Chinese restaurant for over 20 years when we dined out. We hadn't visited in about 6 months because we have a toddler and parents know how it can be challenging sometimes in restaurants, especially nicer ones (not like a food court). We brought our son in a car seat once, and luckily it was just after a busy lunch- there was a restriction on strollers we didn't know about. We had an errand in the neighbourhood last week and decided we should go there afterwards and saw it had closed. Really sad to see this. We loved the hot and sour soup - best in the area (Maple Leaf also used to be quite good but they closed ages ago). My go-to was Chun King pork which is nigh impossible to find. I casually mentioned I wish I knew what the sauce was, am kicking myself I never got it! Loved all the vegetables. My husband loved the Kung Pao chicken or we shared the aforementioned Chung King Pork. I had their stir-fry noodles at various times and they were good, you could tell they were fresh. If I had one complaint, it would be their prices for a can of soda were a bit high. So sad we didn't know they were going to close, we would have absolutely gone in for a last meal or two.. or three or more (!!) before they shuttered. I heard from someone they closed because they wanted to travel - wish them nice travels, and thank you for all the good meals.
I am so sad to hear about this place closing. I moved up north and haven't been there in about ten years and just decided to drive down and have dinner there... only to read it has closed. I first ate there in the mid-90s and it already had a reputation as a solid choice for American-style Chinese food on the east side, and having moved here from the NY metro area I never did find a better place for that kind of food in the entire Puget Sound area. So long and thanks for all the General Tso's. You will be missed!
I am going to miss Peking so much. Lisa and the family have been feeding us for the last 24 years since we started going there and they've been open even longer than that. Raised both my kids on their food and had many, many business lunches there. For those of us who have the same ethnogenetic background from Northern China and Korea, this is a taste that our mothers and grandmothers cooked for us. From the potstickers (dumplings) to the black bean noodles, every taste was authentic, alongside their equally well made Americanized dishes. I'm shocked and saddened I didn't know they were closing and hope all is well with the family.
My family and I went here on Christmas evening. They sat us quickly, our food came out quickly and the food was amazing! The service was fantastic. We noticed when people were picking up door dashes, they not only gave them the food for door dash, they also gave them a to go box for themselves as well. On top of that, they handed out a gift to every table that night (scarves). It was thoughtful. All around everything was great! I'd definitely go back!
This strip mall location on 20th has been a local mainstay since before I starting going in the early 90's. Best known for American style Chinese food for lunch but works for easy dinner as well. The setting has never changed but maybe that's what's best-you can count on it with predictability with the same long term owner $$
Service is fair: very important impression for customers. Food is excellent, customers do cough afterwards, very hilarious. Ambiance environment is great, just heard the employees are korean, it would be cool if they start blasting k pop sings, karaookee with it too.
Delicious Korean Chinese infused restaurant. My mom loves coming here for their seafood noodle soup.. forgot to take a picture since she at it so fast. Always a packed house.
House soup noodles. If you like spicy, thus is a fantastic dish. Don't know about other food as I must order this every time I go. Very flavorful and spicy broth and noodles. And a load of veggies and proteins. Just love this soup!!
First time here. Asked the hostess what are their popular dish -- Mongolian Beef, General Tong's Chicken, Chow Mein (their noodles are homemade), and String Bean with Spicy Garlic Sauce. We had: - Mongolian Beef - sliced tender beef sautéed with green onions and garnished w/rice noodle - I was skeptical ordering this because it sounded mainstream, but glad we ordered it! Best Mongolian Beef I've ever had since we moved to WA (which was a long time ago). Beef was tasty and tender! - General Tong's Chicken - Deep fried chunk chicken with house special sauce. I was also skeptical about this dish for the same reason above, but glad we ordered it. It was delicious! - Chow Mein - Pan Fried with combination of beef, chicken, pork, vegetables, and prawn. Not what I had expected for pan fried noodles, but it was good nonetheless. - Fried Rice with choice of beef, chicken, pork, vegetables or BBQ Pork - we chose BBQ Pork. Delicious! - House Soup with Rice - this comes in Noodle version as well. It was good, but not my favorite. I recommend all of them and definitely going back to try the String Bean with Spicy Garlic Sauce and other dishes. Staff were friendly and noticed they were quick to clean up other tables as soon as customers leave.
